Experimental Results on The Performance of Energy Detector for Digitally Modulated Signals

Spectrum sensing is one of the most crucial tasks of cognitive radio (CR). Even though energy detector has very critical drawbacks in spectrum sensing, it still provides some theoretical insight into the problem from the perspective of both sensing performance and computational complexity of the scenarios considered. However, the theoretical performance of energy detector requires a deeper understanding, since the impact of digital modulation on the received signal cannot be neglected. Therefore, in this study, an experimental setup is designed in order to investigate the performance of energy detector for different digitally modulated signals. Results are provided along with relevant discussions.
